This is a classic. The one that you're most used to seeing. Everyone loves a chuckle-y, candid picture right? And I hear girls love guys with big... watches.

a. I'm trying too hard

I think the first one is my fav. However if the ladies already read your blog (and why wouldnt they) they'd know its you. Oh well.
I would stay away from having the pic of you surrounded by booze. The first pic you have a beer and its not that noticeable. The last one you are with a child. While it can be a conversation starter it can also be very scary.
the other ones you look a bit.. well not your best. so stick with number one. Because you are number one. Gosh thats lame.

Yea, I say go with either the first, or the fourth ( the one with the shirt too small ). The pic with all the alcohol might scream " party boy!" and if the ladies on that particular dating site are anything like me, its the party boys that they're trying to escape.
And the one with the baby, though both of you are cute, does seem to suggest you either have a child, or are dying to have one. You wouldnt want to be scaring anyone off before you'd even met them....

So, you're probably getting loads of girls giving you great advice. And I am sure they are all right. Reading your post, I couldn't help but think about the post I made about BAD pictures people post for their personal ads.
#1 - This one makes you look approachable and friendly. And in a casual setting that any girl would want to go and get to know you. Good pick.
#3 - This one shows your silly side and you definitely know how to have a good time. Also, nice touch with the glasses.
#4 - All I have to say is AWWWW. Having the baby shows your compassionate and nurturing side. And he's adorable!
#5 - This pic shows you having a good time. But I'm not a fan of the cell phone in the picture.
So if you're putting multiple ones up, do the first three. But other than that, this is my two cents.

The alcohol picture, while awesome, could make it hard for a girl to take you seriously (on first impression)
The baby picture? I agree...trying too hard or you actually have a kid

I'm gonna add a vote for either #1 or #5, though I'm half-tempted to vote for the non-existent #2. I agree with others, the nephew pic is not what you want on a dating profile.
By the way, ladies, if you have kids, or have adorable geschwisterkinder, and you have the CUTEST photo of you with them, resist the urge to make that your profile photo. Particularly if you're holding them in what I've come to call "guard" or "shield" position (you know, where they're actually between you and the photographer). Unless you're looking to attract other women, this is the wrong bait to use. Yes, reality is that after a certain age, women are likely to come with kids. I'm fine with that. But I'm looking to date you, not your kid. I'm all for "love me, love my kid", but we need to get to the "love you" part (or at least, like you well enough to meet your kid) first. No kid needs to meet the parade of men their mother is dating, unless they're going to be in the picture a while.
SO@24, you can introduce her to your nephew after a couple of dates, if you think that'll help, but don't use it on your dating profile. Wrong message.

ok I am going to be brutally honest here. Please take off the pics of you with alcohol and the one with you and the baby. The alcohol one makes you look like a lush frat boy. The baby one is totally trying too hard and one might think the kid is yours. Put up as many (good) pictures as you can and make sure to get a body shot. Make sure your pics are recent! My sister went out with one guy, from the same dating site as you are going on, who was 50lbs heavier and 5 years older than the pics he posted. Not Cool!

Oh man, I think people are being way too intense about the booze-y pic! As someone who is not a heavy drinker, I think the picture is funny and probably a fair representation of how you socialize. It's obviously true that a lot of women will be turned off by that, but you WANT those women to be turned off. Because those women will not be a good match for your party-hardy self. Party on, dude.

My vote (and I'm probably late to the mix) is Pic 1. Booze and babies - ummm nope.
#2 makes you seem like a drunkie. Or the only sober one at a party. Neither seems too cool. #4 looks like you cropped out your ex from the photo... doesn't matter if it's her or not. If I saw that I'd assume it was your ex cropped out.
