I've heard this phrase said to me a handful of times.
It's usually on night where I decided to go home early [got too drunk at the bar] or stay in [got too drunk before going to bar] or I didn't join my friends at the bar they wanted to go to [wanted to drink at home after the bar].
But it's always under the same circumstances. "You coulda cleaned up, man!"
"Really?? Why??"
"It was all asians there!"
Huh. So it's come to that has it?
Is that really what it's going to take? Are my only chances with asian girls? Even at that, how can people be so sure that magically, the scales will tip in my favor?
It's no secret that I'm a halfie, but why is it that people always think I am going to fare much better when I am with girls who share the same ethnicity as me? I wonder if this is a trend that holds water.

ironically, me being an asian woman, people assume that i "clean up" mainly with the espresso side of the starbucks menu. my ethnic group hardly looks my way.
If that's true, then I'll have to start going after red heads! I'm not going to hold my breath!

funny thing, i think it's the "halfie" part of you that attracts the asian ladies. i have this theory. mixed people are either really cute or kinda weird looking. so the really cute ones got all the good attributes from the parents. and the weird looking ones.... well you know. but i have this feeling that you might be in the really cute category.
There are four attibutes that will attract a lady:
1. Be presentable in appearance and odor.
2. Be more sober than the other slobs around you.
3. Be interested in what she has to say.
4. Have something in common with her.
Your friends are saying you'd have #4 locked up without even searching for what the commonality might be.
Its the total opposite. Indian girls hate me but love everyone else. I in turn hate everyone. Its a sick cylce of hate.
I think that being a halfie ( I would know) we get tons of options and you definitely aren't limited to just the Asian girls, your friends don't know what they're saying :)
i don't get it either. that ethnicity-based logic is rocky at best.
Whenever people infer that I would like someone (because they're black) and I ask (rather obnoxiously) why they think that, they start hemming and hawwing... "you're both tall! you both like to eat!"
The logic rarely holds up ;-)
i get that about my ethnicity too. everyone assumes that i date black guys exclusively and they would want to date me. not the case at all. don't worry about it, lots of people have weird pre-conceived notions about others that are so beyond any bit of sense.
besides, don't you like petite, busty blonds? i don't see asian or half-asian in that equation anywhere.

Being a halfie makes you automatically more attractive with Asians. Alas, you don't seem like the type that's into Asians, but in an Asian dating pool, that half-ness really bumps you up several notches.
This is not where I thought this post was going to go. I predicted it ending with, "... and you could have made the bed, too!"
In the spirit of off-hand tactlessness, I think the more mixed, the more attractive as a general rule. So I'm kind've agreeing with Dater X. More attractive to anyone. Diversify those gene pools people! I swear, current Greek fascination aside, I think me and Mohinder Suresh from Heroes would have GORGEOUS children.

One of my best guy friends is Korean (he's 1st generation American). He told me not that long ago that he's succumbed to the reality that he will marry an Asian, not because he's most attracted to Asian girls (he loves blonds) but because he has the most luck getting and holding their attention.
Maybe you could "clean up".

I'd say NOT true. Although the logic kind of makes sense. We are naturally attracted to people who have similar interests as ourselves. I guess if culture is really important to you (or to them) they might be slightly more attracted to someone that they perceive as sharing similar interests. You're a good looking guy, SO, you could easily have your pick of the litter. I already have my theories about why you haven't hit the homer yet. . .

I'm Asian and I know that we tend to stick with our own group. I can't pinpoint the exact reason why. I'd kinda understand if you weren't born and raised in the US that you'd most likely gravitate toward the familiar (me!) but I know a lot of people who were born here who still have a taste for their kind.
Halfies are definitely a plus. Caucasian + Asian = HOT
Ugh. My mother-in-law is famous for assuming all people of one culture must be the same. I'm half Puerto Rican and whenever she sees anything remotely Spanish, she makes an ignorant comment like, "What kind of Mexican are you to not like jalapenos?" Um, I'm not even Mexican! And who says all Mexicans like jalapenos, anyway? Racial stereotyping is so annoying.

Not to enforce racial stereotypes, but I think a lot of people believe that Asians only go for Asians. In my experience it really goes either way, but there's definitely those guys and girls who want someone to bring home to momma and they are always the same race as them.
